It seems that Esai seems to think anywhere between 4:45 and 6 a.m. is a wonderful time to wake mama up. And he genuinely seems hungry. He's not looking to nurse. He's asking for his sippy of milk. He'll dog that down, nurse for about 10 minutes, then happily go back to sleep.
I'm not sure if he really is hungry, but I think he is. I mean, he dogs that sippy ... about 6 ounces or so of whole milk. And I'm not willing to ignore his cries because he shouldn't be hungry, as some people might say; or that he should be sleeping 10 to 12 hours without problem.
There are various times on some nights that he wakes up about 1 a.m. or so. I hear him whine for about 10 seconds and he falls back asleep. So I'm fairly sure that this isn't a sleep issue, but rather a hunger issue. But he eats fairly well before bedtime.
Not that I'm complaining. Not at all. This is 148 times better than Esai's former sleep issues; and I'm happy to get several hours of consecutive sleep each night. And seeing how Esai is sleeping so well (in his own bed ... read: he no longer wants to snuggle mama ::: sniff, sniff, sob ::: ), I sort of appreciate the extra snuggle time. I just wonder if he's not eating enough during the day. Or is he going through an insane growth spurt?
I'm stumped.
I don't know. I guess we'll ride it out for a few weeks and see what happens.

Chore Boy!
Esai loves to help with chores inside and outside. All I have to say is "Can you help Mama get the mail?" or "Wanna help Mama in the garden?" and he's all over it. He gets so excited and grabs my hand, so we can get to work. I'm just hoping his eagerness and work ethic stick around through the teen years.

Just a quick update on the good folks at Casa Ornelas
Sometimes there's no major event to post about, but life goes on and so do we.
About Rene
He just celebrated his 22nd birthday again (because on the day we married we promised each other that he'd always be 22, and I'd always be 17) yesterday. It wasn't a huge event. Just dinner, cake and a little extra spoiling.
I must also report, that Rene has the lawn looking like something out of a magazine. That man can mow and edge like nobody's biz-nez. Just one of the many reasons I love him.
About Sara
While I am enjoying feeling well-rested for the first time in 15 months, I'm having an emotionally difficult time adjusting to my Bug's newfound independence. I miss snuggling him at night. I know he was telling me that he didn't want to snuggle at night anymore, but I really miss him.
Work is going well. It's a job. It pays the bills. And you can't beat the benefits.
And I've proven time and time again that I really can't cook. God bless my husband for eating every disgusting meal I attempt (even last night's under-cooked turkey drumsticks), but ... ew!
Antonio
He got a B+ in geometry!!! I couldn't be prouder.
His mom is in town for the month of July, so we won't be seeing much of him. But he'll redoubtably have a great time with her. But, I'll tell ya ... it sure is hard to give him up to his mom twice a year. I miss him.
Esai
Perfection, thy name is Esai. Yes. He's perfect. Every night I go to bed thinking I couldn't possibly love him more; and every morning I wake up with my heart just a little fuller.
Esai is running everywhere (because why walk when you can run?), he's dancing, spinning and starting to talk a bit (book, diaper, hi daddy!, kitty, duck, go, and [I kid you not] yaaaa-hooooooo!). And while most kids respond "moo" or "quack" to "what does a cow/duck say?" Esai thinks that's silly. So instead, we ask "what does a monster say?" and he proceeds to growl. Too cute.
Paco and Lily
I hate to love them, but I do. Despite their ... er, anger-management issues ... they're sweet kitties. And Esai loves to chase them around the house. While Paco doesn't think this game is much fun, Lily is a great playmate for the Bug.
Baby and Chester
Big dogs and toddlers ... eek. Scary. No, they don't bite or growl. They're just soooo big and ungraceful. Esai frequently gets a mouthful of tail, or takes a tumble when the dogs run past him. But the dogs are good, enjoying the summer and taking advantage of their tine in the pond whenever daddy allows it.
