So, now that the Bug is feeling better (thank you, Lord), I have an inexplicable rash from head to toe. Unbelievably itchy. The doc put me on steroids (MW-approved), and we'll see how it goes.
Note to anyone who reads this: Stay off Google when you have a mysterious ailment whilst pregnant. It will freak the hell outta you.

Ahhhh ... much better.
Esai awoke this morning (after a full night of uninterrupted sleep!) with a cool head. Finally. After three days of fever, diarrhea and not eating ... there's a light at the end of the tunnel. Thank God. Really ... thank you, God.
He drank a half a gallon (literally) of Pedialyte immediately upon waking up, then ate some yogurt, a few bites of oat meal and some crackers (cock-coos) for breakfast. Then a tiny bit of soup and grilled cheese for lunch.
I can't tell you how relieved I am. Fever and diarrhea freak me out. Those two devils can turn really bad, really fast in little ones.

As I suspected ...
Ear infection. It sucks, but I'm thankful that's all it is. The Bug started antibiotics today, and should be right as rain by tomorrow. Now I just have to NOT think about the future affects of too many antibiotics.

Helplessness
My baby is sick. Last check before bedtime: 102.5. I know that for kids, this might not qualify as a "high" fever, but to a mom ... anything above 98.6 is enough to make me nervous.
He's playing a little bit. He's not overly sleepy. He's not eating, but ... he's always been a picky eater when he's not feeling 100 percent. (I know, you can totally tell by the photos ... he's just wasting away, right? LOL. He's a calorie camel.) All these are normal things, even encouraging.
The fever started Monday afternoon, and has progressed just a bit higher all day today. He's coming off another cold (gotta love cold season at the daycare, eh?); so I'd put my money on another ear infection. He hasn't had one in several months, so I was kinda hoping we were done with those. He was vomiting when I gave him motrin, but not stomach-virus vomiting. More his coughing-gagging vomit. So that doesn't worry me, too much. He tolerated the Tylenol just fine.
Anyway ... he's cranky and I'm sure feeling really icky. And I know he wants Daddy and Mama to fix it. And I feel so helpless that I cannot.
And then there's the worry ... Chances are it's going to all be fine by tomorrow night. But you know ... fevers in kids can get bad fast. It's rare that it's anything more than a regular, run-of-the-mill virus. But ... it happens. And it worries me.
